Police and villagers from Tonia village have discovered the body of a 24 year old tertiary student, who was believed to have drowned in Tailevu on Saturday.
Assistant Police Spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed that the body was found floating in the Nabaitavo river earlier yesterday afternoon.
The student, who is also from Tonia village in Tailevu was trying to cross a flooded river on Saturday evening, when she was swept away by strong currents.
Police are now awaiting the results from the Post Mortem examination which is expected to be carried out today.
