We will go to the US, learn environmental practices that can be used to help Fiji.
These are the words of FIT Environmental Science student, Miriama Kolinisau, who is one of six students from Fiji that have been chosen to go on a six-week trip to the United States, as part of the Study of the U.S Institute on the Environment program.
Kolinisau said it will be a good learning experience where they can in turn help Fiji and the environmental problems that it is facing.
FSM student Masikerei Vunicagi said environment management and conservation issues are crucial at this time for Pacific Island Countries adding he hopes that those chosen for the program will positively influence policies for environment protection in the future.
The program is funded by the U.S Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and will include 20 students from different island countries.
