The Tertiary Loans and Scholarships Board have reinstated the scholarship of Seruiraduvatu Tamanirarama.
The board terminated his University of the South Pacific scholarship last month on the basis of information given to it by the education institution involved with the student.
Chairman, Dixon Seeto said there is a clear document trail on this case which led to the board’s decision.
Seeto said the Tertiary Loans and Scholarships Board came to be aware of certain information and decided to further investigate this matter.
The investigations showed that the initial information and the resulting recommendation from the education institution were incorrect.
The education institution later confirmed the board’s findings on further investigation.
Seeto said the Tertiary Loans and Scholarships Board rely on institutions for advice and feedback on students’ performance as per their scholarship conditions.
In this case after its investigation, the Tertiary Loans and Scholarships Board found that the information provided by the education institution was incorrect.;
Based on this, the Tertiary Loans and Scholarships Board have decided to reinstate the scholarship of the student.
Dixon Seeto said the Board expects all scholarship students to adhere to the conditions of their contract and follow their study program.
This means that they must attend all instructional classes as required by the institution.
The Board stresses that it does not restrict the activities of scholarship holders outside of their study program.
