A 24 year old student at a tertiary institute doing her degree in Banking and Finance will know her fate soon after she pleaded guilty to two counts of Forgery and Obtaining money on false documents.

It is alleged that on 8th February last year, Wati Masibaca forged the signature of Fiji Island Revenue and Customs Authority General Manager Development Services Pramod Achary on his letterhead. She later forged the signature of a clerk on the salary slip.

She then presented the letter to Colonial Bank and obtained $300 loan and the salary slip acted as her security that she was a permanent employee at FIRCA.

She had earlier pleaded guilty to the charges however her lawyer Semesa Karavaki today asked Magistrate for more time to prepare written mitigation.

The case has been adjourned till 9th October.

In another case, a 33 year old man charged with robbery with violence appeared before Magistrate Amaniasi Katonivualiku in Suva Magistrate court today.

It is alleged that on 17th November last year Stanley Sudhakar along with four other known criminal approached Doctor Ramon Angco pretending to be sick.

Sudhakar who accompanied one of the criminals asked the Doctor for a glass of water and when the doctor had gone to get the water, it is alleged that Sudhakar's other accomplices came inside the house with pinch bars and cane knives and threatened the doctor. The four later fled of with items worth more than $116,000.

The case is adjourned till 21st November as some witnesses failed to appear in court today.

Meanwhile, a 63 year old mother remains admitted at the Labasa Hospital after being allegedly assaulted by her daughter in law late last week.

Police are yet to question the 23 year old woman of Nabekabu Labasa who also sustained some injuries when a fight broke out between the two.

Police say the daughter in law is pregnant and she also received some injuries. The mother in law was unconscious when she was taken to the hospital by her neighbours.

Police are awaiting the elderly woman to recover before laying any charges against the two.
