A 16 year old student of Lautoka has died after the stove she was using to boil water exploded yesterday.
Divisional Crime Officer Western ASP Waisea Kadawa confirms that the form 5 student returned home after school and was boiling water for tea when the stove exploded.
She sustained 80 percent burns and was conveyed to the Lautoka Hospital where she later passed away.
She was alone at home when the incident took place.
Police are calling on members of the public to take precaution while using stoves for cooking especially when no one is around.
