As world leaders converge into Copenhagen to talk about a new climate deal, 10,000 Pacific Islanders are calling on their government leaders to secure for them a strong climate deal to safeguard all life on planet earth.

This follows a petition drive launched four months ago, via postcards, facebook and the Pacific Conference of Churches website, in the lead up to the Conference in Denmark.

PCC's Climate Change Campaigner Peter Emberson said people in the Pacific are looking to Canberra in the hope Australia will work together with Pacific Island nations in securing a fair, just and equitable deal out of Copenhagen.
