Public health and safety is what the Ministry of Health is concerned about thus the need for strict laws.

Speaking to Fijivillage, Ministry's Media Liaison Officer, Vasiti Ritova said the Interim Minister for Health has noted the increase in HIV AIDS cases and has pushed for the change to the Notifiable Disease List and is now looking at introducing laws for those infected people who deliberately spread the disease.

According to Ritova, the Interim Minister Doctor Jiko Luveni at the two day conference held last week informed participants that there were a total of 6 new cases for this month and adds that as of January this year there were over 20 reported cases.

Meanwhile, Ritova also adds that with the inclusion of these rules, many will be discouraged from spreading the virus.
