In general, Pacific people often take the environment for granted and that is why it is important to implement legal policies to protect our environment.
These are the words of former Vice President Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi at the launch of a weeklong workshop aimed at “Developing Effective Environmental Legislation in the Pacific” in Suva this morning.
Ratu Joni said it is vital to take action now in implementing laws that will protect the environment.
Participants from nine Pacific countries will be taking part in the workshop which ends on Friday.
