Raiwaqa Buses Limited has come into the spot light again as the Magistrates Court this morning ordered the company to compensate the family of a driver who died behind the steering wheel of their bus in December 2003.

Suva Magistrate Ajmal Gulab Khan highlights in his ruling that the deceased Uday Raj was healthy and did not suffer from heart attacks and that the Pathologist's opinion was that the heart attack was a result of driving stress and psychological factors and that if it was not strenuous work, Raj may have survived.

The Magistrate also noted that Raj worked 11 hour shifts for 5 to 6 days weekly.

Magistrate Khan ordered that the compensation should be for 208 weeks of earnings and awarded a sum of $24,000 and an additional $850 in court costs to be paid by Raiwaqa Buses deceased's family.
