Police have called on the members of the public to be careful while using kerosene stoves for cooking.
The call came after a 24-year-old woman of Navakai Nadi was admitted at the Lautoka hospital after burning herself while cooking yesterday.
Police Media Liaison Officer Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed the woman tried to refill kerosene into the stove while it was lit and it exploded in the process and woman sustained 35 percent burns.
Sokomuri said people need to be extremely careful while they are cooking.
Meanwhile, a concrete house in Matau raod in Caubati was completely destroyed in fire last night.
Police say the fire was caused by a kerosene stove which fell to the floor from the cooking table.
The estimated cost of damage is estimated around $150,000.
