The Stormers still have "hope" that Flying Fijians flyer Sireli Naqelevuki will be fit for their opening Super 14 clash against the Sharks on Sunday.

Naqelevuki sustained a rib injury in a warm up game against Boland in Wellington on January 31 and was initially ruled out for two to four weeks with a rib-cartilage problem.

But Stormers assistant coach Gary Gold said Naqelevuki took part in their practice session in Bellville yesterday and may be able to play.

If Naqelevuki is fit, Stormers coach Rassie Erasmus will then have to decide whether to start with Conrad Jantjes, who missed the pre-season games with a groin injury problem, or veteran Percy Montgomery, who performed well and is in good shape.

The Stormers/Sharks match will kickoff at 3am on Sunday in Cape Town.
