If you live in and around the Tovata area, you will need to continue saving water and using it sparingly until water levels at the Wainibuku Reservoir goes back to normal.

The Water Department Eastern and Central revealed they started the water rationing at the beginning of this week, however cannot say when they will stop the practice as at the moment the water level is just above the critical level of 1.5 meters.

According to Maika Nagalu of the Department, on a normal day the water level would be around 3 meters and this would be able to cater for all the people living in Cunningham, Tovata, Tuirara, Makoi, Valelevu, New Town and Caubati.

He added these residents will have their water cut during non-peak hours which is from 10am to 5pm.

Meanwhile, the Ba Water Supply Department said water supply to areas between Ba Town and Wailailai will be disrupted as a water pump broke down last night and the parts have been taken to Lautoka for repairs.

It has not been confirmed when water supply will normalize.
