It’s everyone’s responsibility to stop violence against women in the country.

Police had revealed that a 118% increase in crime against women has been recorded.

Furthermore, a 20% increase in crime against children was recorded in the last three months.

Fiji Women Crisis Centre’s Shamima Ali said it is more effective to stop violence against women and children when they work together with other non government organization, government department leaders, church leader, women group, youth group and community leaders.

Ali said as they are able to share resources, and do community education.

With their workshop currently underway on the Elimination of  Violence against women Ali hopes a lot will be achieved about sharing resources where funding is available when they meet in the next two years.

FWCC is holding their national networking meeting on the elimination of violence against women in Fiji.
