The Interim Minister for Local Government has not followed the right procedure and therefore should not point a finger.
This is the view of the Suva Lord Mayor Ratu Peni Volavola in reply to the ultimatum given by the Interim Local Government Minister Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi for the SCC to clean up the capital city as soon as possible.
However, Volavola revealed that the Council is doing the best it can to address the issue of infrastructure within the jurisdiction.
Veyshnoui yesterday gave the SCC a one month timeframe to address the unhealthy and appalling conditions of the city or face the consequesnces.
He said he is left with no option but to give such an ultimatum after recieving numerous complaints from ratepayers and businesspeople.
