The Fiji Teachers Union is calling on the Draft People's Charter officials to stop disturbing the form six and seven students at this time as they are preparing for their external exams which are just around the corner.
Union General Secretary Agni Deo Singh said teachers have cut out extra curriculum and sporting activities to prepare for exams and to inform them about the People's Charter now is not the right thing to do.
Singh said he has been told that some schools in the country will close for half day for the process which is a major disturbance and should not happen.
Meanwhile, the Fijian Teachers Association has labeled the directive given by the Interim Education Minister as an inconsiderate move.
President Tevita Koroi said Filipe Bole's directive does not take into consideration the fact that most students they are targeting who are over 18, are focusing on the external exams.
Koroi said the consequence of the directive has not been thought through.
