Police are once again calling on people to take the weather advisory seriously and not to go out to sea with the current weather we are facing

Stop being complacent and learn to be responsible as innocent lives have been lost in this natural disaster.

The call comes after over 30 people on board a vessel bound from Suva to Gau started drifting in rough seas and are now taking shelter at Leluvia Island after their fiber glass board developed engine problems.

Deputy Director Police Operations SP Irami Raibe confirmed that boat arrived at the island a few minutes ago and also confirms that they had asked for police assistance and teams had been dispatched to rescue them.

Raibe said it is disappointing that people are not taking their advise.
