The British Servicemen and Womens Family Association of Fiji remains hopeful that the British government will still go ahead with recruiting Fijians to join the British Army.

This after the planned British Army recruitment drive scheduled to visit Fiji was deferred because of the uncertainty over Fiji's membership of the Commonwealth after the 2006 military takeover.

The British government has made a decision that the recruitment selection be reviewed and the visit be deferred.

Association President, Tevita Tuinalele said they were disappointed about the decision however nothing can be done.

Tuinalele said the association is hopeful that good sense will prevail since thousands of school leavers in Fiji are looking forward to joining the British Army.
