Stern warning on the use of firecrackers
The Ministry of Industry and Trade confirmed that fireworks can be used any day of the year, but within the time frame of 5pm to 10pm however for Diwali day and New Years the time frame is from 5pm to midnight.
Assistant Police spokesperson, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said police will be on the lookout on the usage of firecrackers.
Those people found to be selling or using banned firecrackers which are breaching the declaration will lead to penalties under the Trade Standards and Quality Control Decree 1992 section 50 and upon prosecution carries fines of up to $25,000.
Fire works that are banned include spherical display shell, aerial shell, parachute shell, sound shell, moon traveller, whistling moon traveller, Rocket and rockets without sticks, woodpeckers, bangers, lady crackers and pulling string crackers.
Meanwhile, it is confirmed that fountains, sparklers, spinners, low hazard fireworks, wheels, helicopters, ground spinners, and 21 shot candles are permitted for use.
