The latest statistics gathered by police have revealed sexual offences committed against children are normally committed from 7pm to 12am on the weekends.

The stats show that it is normally committed when the parents or guardians of children are away from home.

Assistant spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said the stats should be of concern to members of the public.

He highlighted that in most of the cases that they have seen parents or guardians are engaged in other social activities while the children are left alone at home vulnerable to sexual attacks.

Police have advised parents and guardians to have the safety and wellbeing of their children as a priority.
