More girls are repeating high school than boys. This was revealed by the Interim Minister for Education, Filipe Bole at the opening of the Technical Vocational Educational Training Symposium yesterday.

Bole said that last month Fiji hosted the conference on improving harmonization and monitoring and evaluation education results and at the forum the Ministry tabled mid-decade assessment for education which contained enlightening stats.

Bole added at secondary level, the repetition rate for girls is over 5 percent and for boys is 3 percent. He said while there could be socio economic reasons, the major contributing factor is Fiji's highly academic curriculum.

However he reiterated if they were studying technical vocational subjects, there would not be many repeaters at form 6 level.
