Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the state is not responsible for taking any action against former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase for his recent outbursts in Australia.
However, Sayed-Khaiyum said the matter was instigated by Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).
Qarase said he is not concerned about reports coming through that he may be arrested when he returns from Australia.
He also said he had done nothing wrong and it would be a worry if he is questioned or penalized from further overseas travel based on his statements in Australia.
However, Australian High Commissioner James Batley said the Commission did not arrange any meetings between Qarase and the Australian Government adding it was his prerogative.
