Lawyers representing the state have called on High Court Judge Justice Jiten Singh to put on hold the Judicial review being sought by the terminated members of the Great Council of Chiefs against the President Ratu Josefa Iloilo.

When the case was called this morning before Judge Justice Jiten Singh, state lawyers submitted that the case should not proceed until the case filed by ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase and ousted members of the SDL is dealt with by the High Court.

Judge Singh has given time to both parties to prepare arguments on this application which will be heard in his chambers on February 22nd.

Terminated GCC Chairman Ratu Ovini Bokini and others are taking legal action against the President for ordering the termination of the GCC members and promulgating laws regarding the composition of the GCC.
