State Witness reveals methods of assassination
Defense Counsel Mehboob Raza questioned Kuli as to what his role was in the Military, to which he replied that in the Intelligence Unit he was tasked to recover the missing weapons.
Kuli said in Court that after reading an advertisement of Ratu Inoke Takiveikata for a national invitation for reconciliation, and for people to come together, he was concerned that the article would have created instability as he interpreted the call to come together as a sign of going against the government.
Kuli said that he assumed that Ratu Inoke knew where the missing weapons would be as his interpretation of the advertisement which was to create instability would require the use of weapons. He also said that he was concerned as there seemed to be a hidden agenda and a selected few would benefit from going against the government.
Raza then asked Kuli if the selected few meant Ratu Inoke and Ballu Khan, to which Kuli replied yes. Raza then asked Kuli if he was aware that a Jone Naulu who was an IT expert with the Military's intelligence unit was placed in Ballu Khan's company Pacific Connex as a mole, as the military had suspected that there was corrupt practices happening within the company, to which Kuli replied that it was not his responsibility to know, as his job was to look for weapons.
Raza then asked Kuli if he was aware that Ratu Inoke was also a director of Pacific Connex, to which Kuli said he was not aware.
Raza then questioned Kuli if he was aware that on the 1st of December 2006, Ballu Khan wrote to Captain Esala Teleni of the RFMF expressing concern that the military was telling them to shut down the company.
Kuli said in court that he was not aware as his main role was still to look for the missing weapons.
Raza asked Kuli if the assassination allegation was just an excuse to investigate Ratu Inoke's involvement in the company, to which Kuli replied that he was not aware of the Pacific Connex investigations as he remained firm in trying to locate the missing weapons.
Meanwhile Kuli said in court earlier today that some of the ways that was put forward as a way to carry out the assassination was to poison the Prime Minister's food and drink, to try and attempt to execute a head on collision vehicle accident involving the Prime Minister's vehicle, or to use a sniper gun to shoot the Prime Minister.
Lance Corporal Kuli said these suggestions were made as Ballu Khan had allegedly wanted some ideas during the meeting.
The accused persons in the conspiracy to murder case include Naitasiri high chief, Ratu Inoke Takiveikata, Feoko Gadekibau, Barbados Mills, Sivaniolo Naulago, Metuisela Mua, Eparama Waqatairewa, Kaminieli Vosavere and Pauliasi Ramulo. The trial continues.
