The Suva High Court has given state lawyers time to finalize the evidence in the case in relation to the two former senior officers who are charged with allegedly conspiring to remove Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni from Office.

The two former directors of Police Intelligence Branch Berenando Daveta and Rusiate Tuidravu are charged with allegedly conspiring to commit a felony, namely mutiny.

The matter was set for mention this morning but State lawyer Josefa Daurewa informed the High Court that they were in the process of obtaining evidence with regards to the case as investigations were on-going.

Daurewa informed High Court Judge, Justice Priyantha Fernando that they needed to go through the evidence that was being supplied to them by Police as they were mostly written statements.

Justice Fernando allowed the application and adjourned the matter for mention until the 23rd of next month.

The two officers are alleged to have conspired between October last year and January this year to remove Commodore Teleni from office.

They earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge.
