Suva High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar today asked state lawyer to provide a background as to how a man charged with murder was able to flee the country.

When the case of Deo Naidu who is charged with murder was called in Suva High Court this morning, state lawyer Lisiate Fotofili informed the court that Deo Naidu was in India and that he had managed to change his ID and flee the country.

Judge Goundar then questioned as to how Naidu had managed to escape and asked the state lawyer if any letter has been written to the Indian High Commission informing them of the incident.

The state lawyer informed the court that Naidu's passport had expired and he had managed to obtain a passport under a different name and he is not aware as to how this was possible.

Judge Goundar has asked the state lawyer to provide a background how Naidu managed to abscond and how the state was going to fix the problem.

The case has been adjourned to 9th July.
