New Zealand 7s captain Tim Mikkelson says they will not take any team lightly in this weekend’s Hong Kong 7s.
Mikkelson says South Africa and Fiji are two of the most consistent teams and they have been playing well in every tournament.
He says Australia is also coming up and has reached two finals in the last three legs and NZ will not rule them out.
Mikkleson believes that the key is to start well in Hong Kong and keep the momentum going in Singapore.
New Zealand has won the Hong Kong 7s title 11 times.
They last won in So Kon Po in 2014 when they beat England 26-7 in the final.
New Zealand is pooled with Samoa, France and Kenya in Pool A.
Meanwhile Fiji will take on Canada at 12.06am this Saturday in their first pool match.
They will play their second pool game against Korea at 4.24pm Saturday before they face Wales at 8.24pm Saturday in their last pool match.
The Cup quarterfinals start at 2.58pm Sunday, the Cup semifinals start at 7.44pm Sunday while the Cup final kicks off at 11pm Sunday.
