Stars, family and friends are mourning Whitney Houston in a spirited funeral service at her hometown that is underway this hour.
Her death at age 48 shocked her family, fans and the music industry. Houston was found underwater in a hotel bathtub on the eve of the music industry’s Grammy Awards. A cause of death has yet to be determined.
Record producer Clive Davis, who discovered and guided Houston throughout her career, spoke at the service, which Oprah Winfrey, Kevin Costner, Mariah Carey also in attendance however Houston’s Godmother Aretha Franklin was unable to attend due to illness.
Whitney Houston’s longtime mentor, Clive Davis said Whitney not only defined pure talent, but true heart and soul as well and that she was still was going to hold Whitney to a promise he made her last week, to which the congregation applauded.
Whitney Houston was one of the most successful female singers of all time with 26 Grammy nominations and six Grammy Awards with having sold more than 170 million records worldwide.
