Stakeholders in the transport industry remain in the dark on the details of the increase in Taxi and bus fares announced yesterday by Interim Minister for Transport Manu Korovulavula.
Fiji Taxi Union General Secretary, Rishi Ram said while they are happy with the increase in taxi fares, they need to get more details on the matter as the announcement comes as a surprise.
Ram also adds that an emergency meeting will be called once the finer details are examined.
Manu Korovulavula revealed that due to the increase in petroleum prices, taxi fares will now increase by 33 percent with bus fares increasing by 10%.
However, he failed to clarify the specifics of the increases and finer details are expected to be revealed later today.
