Quick action by the staff at the CJ Patel Warehouse in Wailekutu, Lami averted a major fire this morning that could have proved disastrous.
National Fire Authority said they received a call from an employee of CJ Patel after seven this morning and when the fire fighters arrived at the scene they saw smoke coming out of the warehouse.
Chief Fire Officer Central Eastern Qio Mocetai said firefighters were able to control the fire from spreading to rest of the building.
According to NFA, initial investigations indicate that the fire started in the electrical meter box located in front of CJ Patel warehouse.
