The number of outpatients at St Giles hospital suffering from mental disorders has increased to 53 percent.

St Giles Medical Superinetendant, Dr Odille Chang revealed this today at a National Mental Health Policy workshop held in Suva.

Dr Chang said there has been increase compared to previous years adding that there is a need to strengthen divisional mental health services in Fiji through the provision of adequate training and support of public health staff and infrastruture.

She also said there is a need for funds and expertise for training of personnel in mental health and infrastructure.
