The New Zealand cricket team’s hopes of ending their semifinal jinx in the semifinal stages of the Cricket World Cup was dashed after they went down to Sri Lanka last night.
The Black Caps, who after 36 years finally made it into the semifinals, were denied victory by a spirited Sri Lankan side.
Speaking after the game, Sri Lankan captain Kumara Sangakkara said that the side badly wanted a win and were focused heading into the game.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will face off with the winner of the semifinal clash between India and Pakistan.
India takes on Pakistan at 9pm tonight.
