Every home in the squatter settlements in Suva and Lami areas will now have to pay garbage fees.
Suva and Lami Town Council Special Administrator, Chandu Umaria said people living in the squatter settlement all these years have been getting all the services by the council for free and they were also not paying garbage fees.
Umaria said garbage collection is costing the council a lot of money and from this year and squatter residents will now have to pay up.
