The 2007 Coke Games Blue Ribbon event winner Iowane Dovumatua pulled out from the Australian Athletics Championship just prior to his event.

Dovumatua was warming up to compete in the Open Mens 100 metres heat, but pulled a hamstring and failed to compete in the event.

Another Fiji athlete that failed to take part was New Zealand based Niko Verekauta. Sources from Brisbane confirmed that Verekauta had to fly back home because of personal reasons.

Meanwhile, Fiji Disabled Association's Necani Ravutu has qualified for the 400 metres Ambulant event final which will be held this evening at 7:30pm.

Also featuring in the final will be Fiji's sprint queen Makelesi Bulikiobo. She will compete in the women’s 400 metres final at 10pm Fiji time after winning her heat in a time of 53.08 seconds last night in Brisbane.
