The Springboks 7s team is aiming to defend its title at the Cape Town 7s this weekend and knows it will not be an easy task against the Vodafone Fiji 7s team.
The Springbok Sevens team will not have their star duo of Werner Kok and Cecil Afrika available for this weekend.
Coach Neil Powell confirmed that Kok will undergo an operation on a troublesome knee.
Powell adds that Afrika was laid low by a hamstring injury picked up in Dubai last weekend.
The Blitzboks are drawn in Pool B for the inaugural Cape Town Sevens tournament.
They finished fifth in the opening leg in Dubai last Sunday and will play fellow African countries Zimbabwe and Kenya, as well as England, who were losing finalists in Dubai.
Meanwhile barring any upsets, Fiji is expected to meet either New Zealand or Samoa in the quarter final.
Fiji plays Scotland at 9.59pm Saturday, they play Russia at 1.20am Sunday and the final pool match against Argentina will be at 5.03am Sunday.
The Cup quarterfinals will start at 11.04pm Sunday, the Cup semis start at 3.34am Monday while the Cup final will kick off at 6.30am Monday.
