For the first time ever, the Fiji Sports Council is giving $50,000 to stage the East vs West rugby challenge next month.

Chief Executive Officer Litiana Loabuka said the match will provide rugby fans the opportunity to watch their favorite provincial players participate in yet another level of exciting rugby.

Loabuka added players will be selected from the East and West depending on the provincial team they represent.

Loabuka said they are also looking at including the Primary and Secondary Schools rugby competition for the under 15 and 16 grades.

Meanwhile, Nadroga’s Esala Nauga will coach the West selection while Naitasiri and AOG School coach Eroni Vereivalu will be in charge of the East team.

The East versus West challenge will be a three week event with the first match kicking off on the 30th of next month.
