The Fiji Sports Council is surprised by the FRU shifting the IRB Pacific Nations Cup match from the National Sports Stadium to Churchill Park in Lautoka.
Chairman Paul Yee said they met with FRU officials on the issue and said they would retain the same rate that the FRU Chief Executive signed 12 months ago with them, for any of the international rugby matches to be hosted at the National Sports Stadium.
Yee said their offer would have been a win-win situation for both parties.
Meanwhile, FRU Chief Executive Ratu Timoci Tavanavanua in his statement said that the Fiji verse New Zealand Maori match has been moved from the National Sports Stadium to Churchill Park after FRU and Fiji Sports Council failed to reach an adequate solution.
Tavanavanua said that the Lautoka City Council offered preferential rates and that is why both Fiji's IRB Pacific Nations Cup matches will now be played at Churchill Park on June 7th and June 14th.
