The whole of Fiji with Vodafone and its consortium of partners are now awaiting the return of our national Sevens heroes to a grand fiesta on Thursday.

Those are the words of Vodafone Fiji’s Chief Executive Officer Pradeep Lal as he said it has been a long season and the sponsors would like to reward and recognize the players in the best way possible.

Lal said the euphoria of the wins echoes in every Fijians heart and words are not enough to share the sentiments of how proud the consortium is as sponsors of the National Sevens Team.

He said to win the World Rugby Seven Series in the very first year after their return as FRU sponsors after a lapse of 9 years is truly a magnificent feeling.

Celebrations started around the country last night as the Vodafone Fiji 7s team won the World Rugby Sevens Series title.

Fireworks could be heard in many areas around the country after Fiji’s win against South Africa in the Cup quarterfinal of the England 7s.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said Ben Ryan and the Fiji 7s team deserve this win.

Bainimarama said they have sacrificed a lot to get them to where they are and to win the World Rugby Series title.

Meanwhile, Vodafone Fiji 7s robust player Semi Kunatani has been nominated for the 2015 World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year Award.

Kunatani has been impressive in both attack and defense and finished the season as one of the leading tacklers and try scorers.

Having made his debut in Dubai last season, Kunatani has earned a contract with French club Toulouse for next season.

The other nominees are South Africa’s Werner Kok and Seabelo Senatla.
