Springbok number 8 Pierre Spies has been ruled out of the Rugby Championship after sustaining an injury to his left ring finger.

Spies injured his finger in the Super Rugby qualifier against the Crusaders last month.

At this stage, Spies will not be replaced in the Springbok squad currently preparing for Saturday’s tournament opener against Argentina in Cape Town.

South Africa will play Argentina at 3am Sunday while the Wallabies will host the All Blacks at 10:05pm this Saturday.
