Fiji born Brumbies winger Henry Speight received a phone call while in South Africa from Australian coach Ewen McKenzie telling him he’s considered a Wallaby in waiting.

Speight was shocked when McKenzie called and invited him to join the Test camp for 10 days next month, despite not being eligible to play for Australia until September 11th.

The move is designed to speed up Speight's transition to international rugby and help him make an immediate impact when his drawn-out eligibility saga is over.

Speight has been waiting almost four years to be eligible to play for Australia.

Meanwhile, Speight and Tevita Kuridrani scored a try each this morning but it was not enough as their Brumbies side lost 23-44 to the Bulls.

In another match, the Waratahs thrashed the Rebels 41-19.

Today, the Highlanders will take on the Crusaders at 5.30pm, the Hurricanes face the Chiefs at 7.35pm while the Force meet the Lions at 9.40pm.
