Fiji born Brumbies winger Henry Speight shocked teammates after breaking his jaw in two places against the Waratahs last weekend, refusing painkillers so he could watch the rest of the match, joining the team’s victory song, giving a speech for his milestone 50th game, then driving himself to hospital for surgery.

Speight turned up at Brumbies training yesterday less than 48 hours after having his second operation this week - involving three metal plates and eight screws - to aid a six week recovery process.

The Brumbies play the Stormers match at 8:40pm today, the Blues meet the Cheetahs at 6:35pm then the Force host the Chiefs at 11pm.

Meanwhile, in last night’s Super Rugby games, the Highlanders beat the Hurricanes 35-31 and the Waratahs hammered the Rebels 32-8.

Tomorrow at 3:05am, the Lions play the Reds, and at 5:10am the Bulls face the Sharks
