Speeding major cause of road accidents
National Road Safety executive director Akapusi Tuifagalele said they have noted the major cause for deaths on the road is speeding adding that the national speed limit stands at 80km per hour and this should never be forgotten.
This follows the two accidents yesterday where a mother and son in Ba died and another accident in Malolo where the driver died and three people are in hospital.
At the moment, the national road death toll stands at 9 which is the same for the same period last year.
Meanwhile, a man is still fighting for his life at the Labasa Hospital after getting injured in the horrific road accident in Lomaloma, Savusavu, last week.
Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed the man who is from Suva is still in a serious condition while his two other workmates are also recovering at the hospital.
The 27 year old driver died instantly when a digger that was loaded on a 10 wheeler truck fell on their company vehicle.
Meanwhile, the truck driver also received some injuries and is admitted in hospital.
Police are expected to question him once released from hospital.
The road death toll now stands at 7 compared to 12 for the same period last year.
