Fiji Women's Crisis Center (FWCC) is calling on Ministry of Education to speed up its investigations on alleged incidents of assault against students in schools.
Co-ordinator Shameema Ali said those teachers who assault students should be taken to task and school heads should be mandated to be able to deal with students and they should monitor the teachers on how they behave with students.
She adds that such behaviour is unacceptable.
Ali's comment comes after a student was assaulted by a school teacher in Labasa.
The matter is now being investigated by the Police.
