Speed Up Changes says Video Ezy
Uday Singh said they have sent their submissions to the Attorney General's office on the proposed changes to be made to the laws however they are still awaiting a reply.
Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum yesterday assured that the interim government is moving quickly to strengthen copyright laws in the country.
He said they are working with the Copyright Tribunal and providing training for Police Officers identifying pirated DVD's and CD's as police have to prove that a product is pirated before they can seize it which is one aspect of the Copyright laws they are looking at changing.
Uday Singh revealed on Monday that they are closing down their DVD outlet in Nabua due to a loss of more than 80% in revenue compared to last year.
Meanwhile, SPR General Manager Krupesh Patel said three years ago SPR had 16 outlets operating around Fiji and due to the easy access to pirated products in the local market they have only 4 outlets currently in operation.
