The Communications Ministry is currently trying to ascertain the number of mobile phone service providers who can be allowed to operate in the country.
Speaking to Village news Interim Minister Taito Waradi confirmed that after assessing the 15 applications received for licenses, they now have to determine how many companies can be catered for in the local market.
Meanwhile, talks between the Ministry and Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Limited is expected to resume by next week on the compensation for the exclusive licenses held by Vodafone Fiji, Telecom and FINTEL, which currently restricts other companies from operating in Fiji.
