A Referral Supervisor of the Immigration Department from Nadi who is charged with allegedly accepting bribery from a businessman has been brought to Suva and will appear in a special court sitting this morning.

Josateki Toga is alleged to have accepted $500 as well as a new Nokia mobile phone from a Stephen Mallerich, for uplifting travel history of Mohammad Fanam Ali from the Immigration Department.

FICAC officers arrested Toga from a restaurant in Nadi, where he was allegedly exchanging the documents and later that night they executed a search warrant and seized documents from Toga's residence.

He appeared in the Nadi Magistrates Court before Magistrate Saimoni Naivalu and despite strong opposition from FICAC, he granted bail to Toga.

However, Toga was arrested as soon as he stepped out of court after FICAC informed the Magistrate that they have found new evidence against him.

Toga has been charged under FICAC's Bribery Promulgation.
