The Ministry of Social Welfare has made a special arrangement with Post Fiji Limited to carter for the recipients of their food voucher program in the Northern division.
Permanent Secretary for Social Welfare Govind Sami confirmed that the special arrangements have been made after concerns raised from their 568 clients from Bua, Nabouwalu, Lekutu, Namalata and Daria.
Sami said those in these areas were not supposed to be issued the vouchers as there was no facility to cash them, however they have now found a solution.
Sami added that they will soon call expressions of interest to increase the number of authorised agents where the food vouchers can be cashed.
Currently, a little over 23,000 people are receiving assistance under the government’s food voucher program.
