The special administrators replacing the mayors for the different municipalities are to start work today.
Those chosen as the special administrators by the Local Government Ministry are Vijendra Prakash for Suva and Lami, Meli Bogileka for Nasinu, Napolioni Masirewa for Nausori and Levuka, Arun Prasad for Ba/Tavua, Aisea Tuidraki for Sigatoka and Nadi, Josefa Vucago for Lautoka and Vijay Chand for Labasa/Savusavu.
This group is replacing the mayors of the municipal councils whose contracts expired on the 31st of January and were not renewed.
The Local Government Ministry announced the names last week after a cabinet decision.
Meanwhile, special administrator for Suva and Lami Vijendra Prakash has stressed that cleaning up and maintaining road conditions will be his main priority.
Prakash added efforts will also be made to collect overdue rates mainly in Suva.
