A special memorial service was held this morning at the French Ambassador’s residence for the people who lost their lives in the Paris terrorist attacks last Saturday.
The memorial service was attended by President Jioji Konrote, Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa.
Serving ambassadors to Fiji and members of the Diplomatic Corp were also present at the event.
A moment of silence was also observed and those who were present wrote messages in a special condolence book which would then be relayed to Paris.
Speaking at the commemoration ceremony, French Ambassador Michel Djokovic thanked the Fijian government and the people of Fiji for standing alongside them in this difficult time.
He then said that France will continue to remain vigilant in the fight against terrorism.
At least 129 people are reported to have died in the Paris attacks.
