The Pacific Island Leaders Special Forum Meeting will go ahead despite earlier reports about its deferment.

This had been confirmed by the Press Officer for Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare, Bertha Somare who said the decision to have the meeting was decided by Forum Chair and Niue Premier Toke Talagi.

It had been confirmed that Somare's decision to postpone the meeting to February 10th was overturned by Talagi, as most of the Forum Leaders had already made their way to PNG.

Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum confirmed he is flying out on Monday to attend the meeting in Port Moresby.

Commodore Frank Bainimarama had earlier written to Forum Chair Talagi saying he was unable to attend the meeting due to the flood effects and also asked for a deferment of the meeting as he wanted to attend personally.

However, as the decision was made for the meeting to go ahead, Bainimarama chose interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and now former Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Isoa Gavidi to go in his place.
