Speaker of the House, Doctor Jiko Luveni has today ruled that the Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum did not mislead parliament as alleged by SODELPA parliamentarian, Semesa Karavaki.
Karavaki had submitted some documents to the Speaker claiming that Sayed-Khaiyum had given some directives to FICAC.
He says Sayed-Khaiyum had allegedly misled parliament when he said that he does not give directives to FICAC.
The Speaker says after looking at all the evidence provided by Karavaki, she has decided that there is no directive given by the Attorney General.
She also says there is no evidence in the minutes provided of a meeting at the AG’s Office on the 3rd of September, 2007 with FICAC and other stakeholders that backs Karavaki’s allegations.
Doctor Luveni says emails submitted also do not prove Karavaki’s claims.
